Festival Program

Dear Friends!

Having spent four and a half months at the screening hall of St. Petersburg Filmmaker’s Union we had several short lunch-breaks and we, the Selection Committee, got acquainted with more than five hundred films sent to us from all over the world. We have chosen 81 films. We are very proud of our work because we think that the quality of our programs has been greatly increased.

Besides, there are the undoubted masterpieces in the competition program. Yes, absolutely! We are not afraid to tell this, even if we are speaking about the directors, who are making their first steps in the profession. We were amazed by the works of young authors from Poland, Germany, Iran, Romania, Great Britain and Holland. Also it’s very good to see that our festival geography increased through the films from Turkey, Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Croatia and Slovakia. Films from these countries participate in our festival for the first time.

It was not our goal to get more films from different countries-participants by any means. Each debutant is a competent participant of the program and a real challenger to receive the festival prizes as well as our festival favorites and famous film schools. The most amazing thing for us is that even today we are fizzing with the desire to watch all these films again and to discuss it with you. Ok, my dear friends, let’s go to the main festival hall and enjoy the program!

Alexey Dunaevsky,
Chairman of the Selection Committee
Vice-President of St. Petersburg Cinema Press Federation
